Angry Super-Hyper-Friggin-Pissed

I'm trying to cool down. I just received my ADAT xt20 from ##%**@. The problem is, the damn thing has a scratch on top. No, it wasn't wrapped in plastic, as is normal. That was the first "tip-off." Then, I took the brown packaging tape off the rest of the box, only to find the name and address of the person in MISSISIPPI, where the ADAT was first sent! She returned it! Hell, they didn't even bother to remove her old packing slip!!

I'm not going to name names yet. Do you guys think I should? I think it would be nice if this site could dedicat a forum for us to share the good/bad of retail audio companies. It would also be a way to get these companies to be more price competitive.

I might copy this to some of the other forums here to see what reaction I get. I'm quite the unhappy camper.

Uh, PEACE.

I had a problem with a new Tascam TMD1000 mixer. I wanted a quiet mixer, and boy, did I ever get quiet - the only out on the thing that worked was the headphone. I figured it HAD to be me, so by the time I finally called MF to talk about it, their friendly ten day trial had passed. We talked for about five minutes and the guy on the other end of the phone line gave me a return authorization; full credit. They even paid for return shipping.

Moral of the story - cool down and call them!

I agree with Treeline. Calm down first, and then call the dealer.
And then, why not name names for the rest of us? In fact, why not start a new thread that let's people share their favorite/least favorite on-line stores? We could all use some guidance, and these dealers need to work for our money--and not only by offering cheap prices.

Good luck,
J.,

Please names, names!!

If its Musicians Friend they have lots of these type of complaints so add to it. It'll help someone decide on a dealer and thats what great service is all about. You treat people bad and business suffers. So spit it out!!

I would have it chacked out, and then ask the store to give you credit for the rest of the "blem price"... Blemmies can be WAY cheaper, so you might be able to buy the cyanide youll need to go with that adat for free!

Why don't you just post later and tell us whether you got quick and efficient service, or were jerked around by dorks, and then name names. Every retailer that lurks on this board has to be aware that bad service is amplified by bad publicity. I know lots of manufacturers and retailers hear our words here, so SEND THIS GUY ***NEW*** GEAR!- Richie

Cool Update

You guys crack me up. Ok. The sunglasses mean I've cooled down a bit. Here's the friggin scoop. Below is the letter I sent to Customer Service and "Management."

Hello,
I just received my ADAT XT20 from UPS. I was "suspicious" went I opened it.
It wasn't wrapped in plastic. Then I saw a scratch on the top side. It then
didn't take long for me to discover the previous return label on the box,
from the ORIGINAL customer in Mississippi.
Do you make a habit of sending unsuspecting customers returned items? I'm in
total shock! I'm spending hard-earned money with you, and you do this?

I've always done business, and been VERY HAPPY, with SWEETWATER. I wanted to
branch out with some more "options." I even ordered online, not trying to get
a better deal. WHAT A MISTAKE I MADE!

I talked with Brian in your customer service dept. He was as kind as he could
be, but told me I would have to wait till I returned mine to you, before my
new one (dear God I hope) is shipped to me. Overnight? Haaaaaa. Why would I
expect such a show of "making the customer happy?"

I'm going to "cool off" a bit before I decide on sharing this experience with
every musician/recording message board I am a member of.
Sincerely,

Yada, Yada... So, today I get a call from cust. service. He tells me he can give me $150 off if I elect to keep it. I tell him "let me check it out, and look for a warranty card." No warranty card! Forget it. Who knows how long the chick in Mississippi had the thing! Heck, she probably cut a record with it.

The truth is friends, I would have said "credit me and forget it." But, I'm using their "Platinum Card" to stay away from the interest till April. So, I'm sending it back for a "new" one. No really, I mean a NEW one.

I have a feeling the idiot in shipping that left the original receipiant's name on the box that was sent to me, was called on the carpet. Naaah.

Ok- besides the original screwing, they have been quick and polite to take care of the snafu. Will I order from them again? Why Hell no! I'm as likely to do that as I am to go to computer-based recording. (he he- that's for littledog and pipeline)

Now, here's the payoff: See if you can dig down deep, and figure out who "done it" with this clue: "They are no longer my Friends"

Titan,
Friggin PEACE!

There's an easy way to check the hours on the thing. I believe it's holding down SET LOCATE and pressing STOP and you get how many hours the head has been spinning. Someone else can correct me if it's something different - it's been a while for me...
