What Month Did Fender Cease Making US Production Amps?

Just wondering, as I can't get Fender to talk about it. I'm trying to figure out what the last US Fenders were and when they were made.

BTW, in case you didn't know, after over fifty years of making Fender amplifiers in the US, in early 2002 Fender ceased making US production amps and quietly closed the Corona, California amp facility.

All production Fender amps are now made in Mexico. The few boutique "Custom Shop" Fender amps are still made in the US.

Strange.

So my question is, where are the "Custom Shop" amps made now? I know for a fact it's NOT the custom shop in Scottsdale. They do not have an electronics manufacturer license for Arizona and thus do not build amps at the custom shop. The build of guitars does not require having an electronics manufacturer license, in case you were wondering. How do I know? Well, Fender sends me to the NAMM show each year that I want to go. I have some friends in the high ups. Just not high up enough to get free guitars... Darn!

BTW - the mexico plant is very nice. I have had a few friends of Fender who were given tours and all came back impressed by the facility and the quality of the workers there. Most of the workers are musicians themselves....and I hear they have a killer company soccer team!

Great, see what all the line 6 dweebs did? Nobody will ever remember what the hell an electric guitar sounded like now.

I think the last time I plugged into a Line 6 product, the guitar I was using definately would be considered an "electric"[version of gtr].

Maybe you mean the outdated sound of a 50 year amp is what you perceive to be forgotten.

Damn, if I could only get my 1960's Bassman head to sound like my J-station, then I'd get the same sound 'live' as what I do when I record

Are you suggesting that you prefer the sound of you're J-Station to your 60s Bassman? I also have a J-Station and a 60s Bassman, so I'm very curious about your thoughts.

I read, but I can't remember now, as I'm not likely to be buying a Custom Shop amp anytime soon. Maybe Nashville, I can't remember for sure. Check the FDP.

My main beef about shutting down US production of amps is that Fender's savings have not been proportionally passed on to consumers and Fender has tried to pretend the whole thing never happened. Fender execs have stonewalled my requests for information about the move, though they are usually forthcoming about other subjects.

I am not sure where or by whom the actual circuitry is made. I have a perfectly fine MIM amp from 2001, but it allegedly has US-made guts. All my other Fender amps are US-made.
