Hafler or Alesis

Alrighty then, I blew the right channel of an older than most of you reference amplifer and Im looking at the noted options for reasons of finacial limitations. Please tell me your opinions on your choice with some background on why.

Sincerely,
Son of Mixerman

I would say hafler, but then again I only live 3 miles from them

I had a large hafler power amp cook, catch fire even. Not that power amps catching fire is a rare occurence...expect it...I took it down to hafler..."call me when its done I'll come pick it up.

2 days later I get a knock from UPS. BRAND NEW power amp, a newer model sitting in a box, free of charge, with a new warranty card...THEY paid shipping, I was only out the gas money to drop off the amp in the first place...

to me that service is worth 10 times the price

That, I can't say from experience... but I would still choose it over an Alesis amp - just based on Hafler's reputation!

Cool

what limited price range are you looking at?.....

the Hafler TA 1100 and 1600 are awesome for the price, and in that range, i cant think of a better one....unless you go used......

How long do you think that special will last? I just had to pay a $500 deductable for a car accident my wife got into(not her fault) and I also have to start buying contruction materials...Well, maybe Ill have to do more overtime...Its looks like Alesis loses again...heh heh. Maybe I can get Guitar center to match it... Whats the power rating of the TA-1100 just incase the sale disappears?

Thanks guys

Cool

Guitar Center matched a web special for me before....as a matter of fact it was when i bought my TA1100......

it seems the TA1100 and 1600 are both $199 right now, so the 1600 is a no-brainer....the 1100 is 50wpc at 4 ohms and the 1600 is 75wpc.......

its a damn shame when Mixerman's kid is forced to use a Hafler amp tough love i guess.....

Sennheiser has a spectacular aura aboutSennheiser has a spectacular aura about
"B" stock could be several things.

A return because someone wasn't happy with the product. That doesn't make it bad. Also called "unsealed carton"

Could be a demo out of the store. Demo units are usually specified as such, but not always.

Could have been cosmetically damaged in shipping. Might even have a dent on the top or bottom of the cabinet.

It rarely EVER relates to the quality of the electronics. Though the latter of the above could have some effect. Especially if the dents are on the bottom of the chassis.

I have a Hafler TransNova power amp. Got it on eBay. It runs my NS-10's.

I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks Guys.

I took Gidges (a special thanks)advice on having GC match the MF web special price and got the 1600 for $199.00.
I splurged on a $20 Deltron convertable patchbay as well. I had to giggle when I bought that patchbay..$20 new...this is going to be funny. I just want it for rack spacers that double as spare cord holders. Well I hook it up maybe this weekend for entertainment purposes, it only needs to last about 3 months before I replace it, it beat buying a $49 used re-an. Thanks again.
