Unhappy Modifying a Spider line6 amp

I have a line6 spider amp and a marshall cab. The head phones jack wont power my cab. Is there a way to modify it to an external speaker?

Sure, send the signal to a power amp then to a speaker. Get ready to hear some crappy distortion though. Another option is to send the phones out to a mixer wiyh a stereo splitter and monitor the signal off the stereo outputs. That would be the safest bet.

But don't try amping the phones output into the cab input unless you want to fry the crap out of your amp (if you didn't already!)

Maybe a stupid question but, don't you have a power amp out or auxillary speaker out jack on the rear of your amplifier?

By what you are asking it sounds to me like you want to power
the cab with the spider. I don't think that amp has a external speaker output,... If thats the case the only thing you can do is to hook it up on the amps actual speaker cable.

Careful though with the load (ohms) that the cab will give the amp.

Be careful.take it to a line6 authorised repair shop and see if they can install a jack...Something like the Fender combos have

Talking Thanks

Thanks guys. Someone gave me the idea to connect the speaker cables to an input jack. So I'll give that a shot. Thanks again!

If your not talkin' about the speaker wires coming out of the amp hooked to the Marshall cabinet's speaker jack (which is how I would do it) have the Yellow Pages open to the Musical Instrument Repair section!

More specifically and in simple form, if you unhook the speaker in the Line 6 amp and install a 1/4" jack on the wires coming out of the amp (Be sure to mount it securely somewhere in the chassis so that it can not ground it self out by falling against the metal chassis or internal speaker.) , you could then run a standard 1/4"-1/4" speaker cable to a Marshall cabinet (providing the cabinet is wired for 8 ohms or greater). You could also then put a 1/4" plug and wires on the internal speaker for use when the Marshall cabinet is not desired. Do not attempt to run both at the same time. Lowered impedance may damage the amp, and it will not sound good anyway.
