I have been a musician for some time, a few years back my band recorded at a small local studio. We payed loads of cash. I am interested in recording in my home, but am just starting. I inherited this KORG D8 digital recorder and am wondering if it is any good, or if it is a waste of space and effort.
I am trying to get a project studio started, and would love any advice. KFW |

Its really not a bad little rig. I had one a few years ago and made some great recordings on it.

I don't know why you'd ask anyone if it's good.
Do you record with it? How does it sound? How's the editing? Can you buy drives for it? |

I have a D8. It's pretty limited ( only 8 tracks ) but if you aren't using a lot of tracks in your songs, if you only want to record two tracks at a time, if you have a good mixer or preamp, it will make a very good recording. You'll run out of storage pretty quickly - got any old scsi drives laying around? It is a really good machine with which to learn the basics of recording. But yours is probably a piece of junk. Probably better just send it to me so I can dispose of it properly for you.

If this link won't work, its the KORG D8 forum on Yahoo. You can probably do a search to find it. There is a lot of D8 info on here from d8 users. Good luck. |
