The Original Cyndi ROCK AND ROLL

Just set up a website with some of my stuff, http://www.originalcyndi.com . . .

i'm trying for a dirty rock sound, think early stones. . basic tracks done on a Tascam 8 track cassette portastudio (the big blue one, i forget the specific model, 488?) with a CAD VT-1 Tube mic, CAD E-350, ART Pro tube Strip, DBX 566 compressor (on "clever", especially the drums and vocals). . mixed digitally via dump into cool edit pro, etc. etc. . . i cant remember all the stuff, it's been a while, so just check it out!

Clever almost sounds like New York Dolls.
A retro sound, and recorded real nicely!
Nice Job!

Thumbs up Retro cool

Sounds kinda older Elvis Costello to me, maybe Elvis and Beck get together and you get something like that. I like it. Fresh and different. Sounds pretty darn good. Its hard to get stuff off of tape clean. Usually sounds great on the machine, but then you transfer it off and lose alot. You seem to have kept alot of quality in the transfer.

thanks for all the replies so far

im especially flattered by all the comparisons i'm recieving. . i'm mostly influenced by mid-60s stones and T Rex. . but i think most of those other artists were too to some degree, so it makes sense. . I really wanted to pay attention, to a certain trashy, human aesthetic in my production, without falling too much into the "trash rock" cliche that a lot of matador bands do. . I mean, I have an idealized vision of 60s/70s radio pop that i suppose I'm going for. . having a raw edge gives it a human element to me, which i think comes down to mastering and everything too, i mean you hear all about people making "vintage" albums today, but when it comes down to it, they just sound so clear that it doesnt do it for me. . .

anyways, thanks for listening, there will be more up soon!

Wild, reminds me of 45 grave a bit. Well recorded. Interesting vocal style!
