Difference between old Mackie pres and the XDR's?

Just wondering how big is the difference between the older Mackie mixer's pres and the newer ones with the XDR preamps?

Is a older Mackie (CR1604vlz) still worth having?

Would a new (or even older) 16x8bus sound better than a new CR1604vlz pro or pretty much be the same?

There's not much difference except for a whole lot of Mackie, Inc. marketing hype.

Seriously, though, the XDRs do spec out slightly better, but we're talking differences that can't be easily heard. Both are good and worth having.
