Wich meter should I use to record?

Hi,

I am using Logic audio and the Darla soundcard from echo to record my music, but I'm not sure wich meter I should use to do that. My music always sounds so soft, even when I limit it. I always use the meters from the Darla to check the levels, but I'm not sure if that's ok. So wich meters should I use to record my music, the meters from the Darla or the meters in Logic.

Thanks for your help

Im not familiar with Delta cards but I am with Logic. When you are doing your mixes use your logic meters in the track mixer for all tracks. Try not to clip the meter over digital 0. Use your delta meter for your cards output level.

when recording through that channel, the delta IN levels should be set to 0db.

if it is a really really really hot source, i suppose that you could turn it down on there a couple of db, but i dont see the need - you should ajust it mainly from your mixer or whatever mic pre you are using to make the levels look good on logic - with no clipping - while the delta levels are at 0.

This is an issue I've also wondered about. BUT I use neither Logic or Darla (Aardvark 24/96 & Sonar). Still, the question has always been there for me too. I think the replies in this thread also apply to my setup. Yes?

Thanks!
