transparent and coloured compression

You read alot of posts with people asking whats the most transparent compressor i can get for the money etc.

A discussion id like to see is the uses of transparent compression and also compressors that colour the sound

like an explanation of where and when it is good to use either of the styles of compression as aposed to just people saying which one do you need.

i say you need both coloured and transparent anyway thakyou in advance to anyone leaving constructive feedback on this topic
