Atipp has a little shameless behaviour in the past
final mix lacks energy

I wrote and recorded a song and got a really good mix but it lacks energy. it almost has something missing. The bass, drums guitar, and vocals all mix well and none are to loud or quiet at any point. The guitar and even the drums have some stereo width to 'em and the vocal tracks pan slightly from time to time to add some motion and excitement. but lately listening to it it seems slower than it actually is. the tempo is like 160Bpm yet It kind of drags and makes the song seem to long. What's going on here and what can I do

Thanks
Atipp

You didn't line up all your drum beats to be right on the beat, did you?

Nothing takes the life out of a track quite like that.

Also maybe your mix is too even. Sometimes you gotta let stuff stick out a bit to give it some life.

I find that the more I mix something the worse it sounds. Just mix it, call it done and move on. If you end up with something that's glaring wrong you can always go back and tweak, or just tell people you meant to do it like that.

And don't look at the screen while your mixing.

My $.02

volltreffer is on a distinguished road
If your mix is good, played well and it still gets boring - might it be the song

You might try some other arrangement?

It's hard to pinpoint a problem without hearing it. Post a piece of it and we can try to help out (many people around here are pretty good at it).
