help me!!!

ok, i'm just trying to record some basic guitar riffs so i can send them to my drummer and have a record of my ideas. i'm only running an old system but its good enough for what i want. my question is this: im trying to record direct coming from the line out on my guitar amp, into the line in on the soundcard. now i've got a soundblaster compatible, just a 16 bit, and i cant work out how to record through the line in because its not a device in any program i use! it is there under control panel settings, but i can only record using the wave in, which is the mic input. so could someone tell me what im doing or not doing, or give me some suggestions of software?

First, right click on the little speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of your screen and open your volume controlls. Go to options, then properties, then selct recording and make sure that line input is selected. The in whatever recording software you're using when you arm a track, it should be there.

You may also have to change a setting in your mixer. I don't know which software you have but they should all work in a similar manner. Find your mixer. You can try 'start/programs/creative/soundblaster/surroundmixer. Click on the icon right above your record fader and choose 'What you hear' and that should record any source you have or you can choose 'line in' to limit it to what you are doing. Make sure your fader level is up.

Only use the LINE IN, not the MIC IN.

What's your "SoundBlaster Compatible" card ? Plug and Play ? Spec pls...
How does it can't record from Line in ?

Did you set the driver corectly ? You've got an old system, what is that ? What's your program ? "Any" means more than one right ? What are they ?
