I finally settled....

Alright guys, I finally settled on a pair of hafler M-5's or the ART SLM-1's. Opinions on these two? I know these don't beat any genelecs or mackies or anything, but I would still like some opinions to go with the M-5's or the SLM1's.

Cool

i brought home a pair of M5's from GC to test and they sounded really good, but the low end response was almost non-existant.....i couldnt see mixing with them without a sub.....i was looking for a monitoring with less bass response, but i needed a tad more than the M5's....

have you checked out Tannoy Proto-J's or Yorkville YSM-1's?......

I have checked into just about every speaker there is. I just have a hard time finding the ones to listen to. All GC has is the Yamaha MSP5's, KRK's, and Events. Samash has just about the same except they carry the proto-j's. I guess I'm just stuck with buying from the internet. I know no one around here that knows anything about monitors. Just live sound guys. You guys are the only help I have on these. For some reason I'm reluctant to buy a pair of proto-j's. On your response, thanks for the reply Gidge, I'm leaning towards the ART SLM-1's now. From what I heard they are the Yorkville YSM1i's in disguise. I need some type of bass response. I'm mixing on some $30 yamaha bookshelf speakers that just suck all sorts of things. hehe... Again, thanks for the reply Gidge. Any others?
