Primary and Secondary Temp Directories

What the heck is the temp directory . . . what is it's purpose in life . . . why is there a "primary" and a "secondary" one, and why do they have to be on separate drives?

For the longest time, I've been having difficulties with skips when I record several tracks at a time . . . and the problem seems to build and worsen as I run out space in my "secondary" temp folder. You see, my "secondary" temp folder is located in drive D, and drive D has very little space on it, so it runs out quickly, which causes the inevitable skips, I believe (at least that's my guess, since the skips stop when I free space in my secondary temp drive).

CEP won't allow you to have your primary and secondary folders on the same drive. Interesting, huh? Anyway, will my problems be solved if I just don't designate a secondary temp folder? My primary one is on my C drive, which has like 80 GB of space on it.

Does that make sense to any one?

My guess would be that using two dif drives allows CEP to work faster as the bus doesnt get clogged accessing temp files along with the basic files in your session. More bus transfer space means better streaming of your tracks from your HD.

BTW, manually check your CEP temp folder and windows temp folder in explorer and delete old temp files. Thats a HUGE waste of space. CEP saves the temp files of crashed sessions so you can reopen them but youll probably find several files like 367,616 KB and bigger. Get rid of that stuff.
