I remember a while back someone was putting together an MP3.com station with some of the folks on Home Recording. For some reason or other, I never got around to asking that person if they'd add my music to it. In any case, for anyone out there who has a station, feel free to add any of my songs to whatever stations you might be managing. My stuff can be found at http://www.mp3.com/alphadog

I'd be happy to do a swap on my station. Thanks!

Since I brought this up, has anyone out there had any real success stories with MP3.com? That was the first place I uploaded music (many, many moons ago), but I never really bothered to promote any of my MP3 sites. I'd be interested to hear how everyone is doing there.

I started putting stuff up about a week or two ago. One of the songs has been sitting at #4 in it's genre category but the hits have been slowly dropping off. I've made something like $3.00 but most of that is because I bought my own DAM Cd to make sure everything worked. I see some guys up there making 70 grand. Must be nice. I haven't been doing too much promo either. Might as well plug it here I guess... Check out Massive Ferguson and/or Thee Maypolers @ Mp3.com

Been on mp3.com for a couple years now. It was the first place I knew of that I could upload my music to the web. No success story here though, my current net worth just shy of two bits. It has kept me interested in playing and recording, so the saga continues . . .

Hey CMiller, It was called Baked Productions, I don't have any MP3's out yet, but I remembered it because I was gonna look him up when I do. Anyway, his post is on page 5 or 6 of the MP3 Mixing Clinic archives. I just looked it up, its in all caps HOME RECORDING or something like that...........Ray J

It's really all in how you promote. In my experience the MP3.com stations don't really bring much exposure. But I've had moderate success in getting fans to check out my songs online. Find other artists who are willing to reciprocate links with you and tell everyone you know about your site. It works, believe me.

Question how do I convert a midi file to MP3,??

I've been trying to find out for ages how to convert my tune to .wav, so I can put it on to MP3 and see how well it goes on an MP3 station, but I have no idea how to!!! Anyone help me out here?

Convert to wave? I've got a program called Musicmatch. You can download it from the Mp3.com site. It'll pull your songs off a Cd and convert it into an Mp3 file ready for upload. Wave files won't upload, you probably already know that though. If you don't have any tracks on a Cd you will have to run a line out of the source into yer computer, record it as a wave file and then convert it to Mp3. Hope that helped you out. Let us know when you join the rest of the ignored masses on Mp3.com.

Red face

Melody Master,
Since you have a midi file - you need to record it as a wave. To do this ya need software-n-track, cakewalk, or cubase and a soundcard.
