Hey, rats - good! Now I can compare notes with somebody else!

To start with, the cursor sucks, right? You can't see it half the time.

Next, I keep getting wonky error messages for some simple operations. For example, I do a 'Save As' of a session, and 2.0 tells me it can't find the track, and then talks about re-compressing the track or something equally mysterious. Phooey.

Arrow Lovin' CEP 2.0 -- Legit!

Rats, you will like CEP 2.0 as you use it. Enjoy

I know budgets are tight with some. But, please at least indicate your intent to go legit!

I want to see Syntrillium put out a *bug fix*, as it were. If we don't pay, why should they offer? They deserve their financial retribution...

By the way, CEP 2.0 is pretty *kick butt*, in my book. Been on Syntrillium since CE-95 (:>) Growing into the bigger stuff and having a great (uh, cool) time.

I just worked on my first session last night in 2.0 and there were some things I really liked and others that frustrated me. I don't like teh fact that in edit mode>effects>amplification it requires you to increase or decrease measured in decibels. The % was so much easier in 1.2!

The dynamics processing seems to work differently- my presets don't work the same in 2.0 as 1.2, compression seems to be expanding? Has anyone experienced this? Like I set to compress 2:1 > -9 db flat < -9 db, but it blows my wave up like 50%!

At the end of the night I saved my mix down as a .wav but my Easy CD creator and Winamp saw it as an unknown format. I ended up having to save an MP3 version to get it on a CD. Weird.

Dobro your problem sounds pretty wacky.

The mixer is super cool on multitrack mode as well as the real time effects processing that I have yet to try out. The track EQ is going to be a big help too me thinks.

I've had 2.0 since it came out and I've had a lot of weirdness and have had to re-install a few times. The cursor problem is an easy fix..go to options and there is an option to have the cursor he the line thing or the an arrow.

The mixer is cool, HOWEVER, the faders don't follow the envelopes. Which is kinda good, kinda bad... I'd love to be able to use my digital mixer to write/read envelope data like I can with Nuendo. On the other hand, it's nice to be able to raise a track's level with out adjusting your envelope. I haven't been able to figure that out in Nuendo.

For editing, I still use CEP. So much faster and easier to work with than anything I've ever used INCLUDING PRO TOOLS! The real time fx are nice, but I'm not sure I like the way CEP goes about doing them. I'd love it if they did RT fx like Nuendo... which is to work like a real mixer.. fx sends, inserts, etc. anywho, for the price, I can't complain. I just consider the rt fx an extra bonus anywho.

Rats, for your wave mix problem, are you checking the .wav file save options? There are quite a few.

I have no experience with the CEP dynamic fx because I hate the interface.

Nuendo kills every other program out there IMHO.

CEP 2.0 wins second place, not bad given the $1k spread between them. Aside from layout and all around quality code, CEP wins bec of its ability to lock effects and bus FX real time which allows for many more plugs while using less CPU than other programs.

There's a checkbox on that dialogue that says "View all settings in decibals." Uncheck that box and you'll be back to %.

That is weird. I haven't had a problem with Easy CD Creator not recognizing my wav files from CEP2. In the Save As dialogue, there are several file types with an extension of .wav. Are you using Windows PCM? That's what I've been saving as, and I've had no trouble.

Yeah Windows PCM. Funny thing is I never had that problem with 1.2 and after I was having the issue saving in 2.0, I reverted back to 1.2 to save the mixdown, and guess what? Same thing!!! That is just pure fucking evil at work.

Rats -

Make sure you are not creating 32-bit files! I did this a few times when I first started using CEP 1,0.

Look in the lower right corner. It you don't see *44100 - 16-bit - Stereo*, press the *F11* key and convert accordingly.

My Dynamics Processing is fine for me. If you have the processor speed, try making adjustments in preview to see if things happen the way you'd expect.

Getting used to the other stuff will come, in time.

different .wav formats

yeah i had that funky error too when trying to burn a cd..the problem is you are saving it as a .wav file but it's a different format theres a couple different pcm wav formats and only one of them is liked by ez cd creator..usually if you pick the wrong one it will warn you that you are saving to a lossy format. i tried nuendo but it's just like most other recording programs i've tried..a huge headache. i want to record on my recording program, not have to build the program then start recording. if they'd make it a little more user friendly..
dlv

and to the guy bragging about getting it for free..laa dee freakin da..anyone and their grandmother can do that..it does not prove that you are wise. on the contrary to publicly announce what everyone knows NOT to is foolishness!

I didn't steal it I just got the serial number from a different place because I downloaded the program from the website.

But tell me this what is so different about that than let's say getting the program from a friend like I know everyone does. Because if your friend has a program and you like it and want it don't you get them to zip and e mail it to you, or borrow there cd that it is on, or either get them to burn you a copy so WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE

Your right, there is no difference in "steeling" it of the web or getting it of someone else who "stole" it.
Either way you stole it. Anybody who pirates software and admitts it on the web is a bigger dick head than they realise.
Now I'm not going to lecture you on the reasons why you should'nt steel software, I could'nt be bothered. But I'd just like to say, for argument sake, your a dickhead.

Hey look I think your missing the point. Im not having a go at you personally. Just telling you that admitting to stealing, on the internet is not a real smart thing to do.

As for the why pay for it when you can steal it, well you can live your life that way. Your choice. But now that I know your a thief, I won't give you any advice on anything.

And as for not having the money to afford software.....
Well I can't affors a Neuman U47 mic either. And Im not going to steal one.

You're being very oportunistic. I bet if a 50 dollar note fell out of the back pocket of some old lady that you'd just pick it up and keep it without telling the old lady.

RD423 - you should also know that not everyone here shares the same opinion on sharing software as some of the more outspoken ones. I don't think anyone is going to really get seriously down on you for merely the fact that you are using software that you didn't pay for simply because you are (OK well there are some here that will, it personally doesn't bother me). Like some of the others were getting on to, bragging or even really bringing it up around here is not a very smart move you have to understand. Sure maybe you can't afford some of this software but likewise many others can't either. They may save up for it when they could get a pirated copy just as easy as you could (do you think these people are that stupid that they can't find a pirated copy if they wanted?). You have to understand that many people are from the school of thinking that the people that create this software deserve the money that is asked for this and do not use pirated software as a matter of principal. These are many of the same people that won't share MP3s but rather go out and buy the CD to support the artist.

When you use words like you've used in this thread you thumb your nose at their ideals and believe me you won't make any friends around here. This is a good place to get and share very useful information and possible make a few friends to go along with it. Just take this as helpful advice from a few people that have been around this board for a while. I've seen too many people barge in to this board shooting their mouths off and get chased off as fast as they came in.
