New song number 2

Well, as usual, I'm ready for a healthy dose of battering and belittling. Let me know what you think of my new tune at...

http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/423/robert_tait.html

...it's the second one down called "Such A Same (you couldn't be here)". I'm actually redoing it a bit faster and a half a step lower so I'm not getting off tune as much(which you'll notice in a few spots), but it's essentially the same song.

Lemme know what ya think.

Lightbulb

the music sounds ok but you need to pan you tracks on differint sides to give each instrument it's on "space" plus there was a little distortion on all the tracks. turn the guitars down some and possable the vocals. for paning i would do this.....

acousic guitarpan left

other guitars: left, right and in the middle.

vocal: always leave it in the middle.

do you see what i mean by spreading your tracks around?

good luck.

Cool...thanks.

Right now I've actually got both guitars almost totally in separate speakers...I can't separate them much more. The rest I could play with. I tend to mix it with volumes a little high. A bad habit.

"possable the vocals"? I'm not exactly sure what that meant.

But as I said, I'm redoing this tune...I'll apply the info to that.

Nice song.

I would definitely leave the the lead vocal tracks down the center. You can tell here and that notes aren't held the same amount of time. Additionaly, doubled vocal part don't get the same benefit from being hard panned as do guitars. Send the lead vocals down the center, and a slightly different volumes.

The vocals seemed a bit too high in the mix for my taste. Did you screw up that first chord in the song? Or did you mean to do it that way.

Vocals clipped at 2:34.

Now I really liked the guitar tone. I liked the guitar parts. I liked the little backing vocal tracks that just did the "du du du du" thing (although it might be slightly overused). Harmonies sounded smooth. All real nice.

A lead guitar break would work too.

Nice job - trip...

It's not a bad tune.I think the reason people havent responded is because you have your tunes on mp3.com.Most people wont even bother with the sign in process(e-mail,age,sex,language,location,zip code etc..)...most everybody who posts here uses Nowhereradio.com...it's a lot less cumbersome.

Ok,now about your tune.Im just an average listener recorder so I dont have any tips, just some observations....first off the vocals are a little too out front and the doubling effect is in the overkill range.Im a big fan of doubling vocals but these are overdone to the point where they sound too effected....there are a few sync problems with the doubling also...not bad but they fluctuate every now and then and they are flat on certain words.

The word that holds out at 2:15 is flat and wavering. The doubling is also off. It's really noticeable.....when doubling vox you have to be willing to spend 100's of takes to make each word doubled perfectly to pull it off....I know how it is,Im guilty of the same thing myself sometimes.

The back up vocal stuff is really good.

The guitars sound a little out of tune after the second one comes in on the left side but isnt so noticeable when the song gets going.

They sound really direct.Thats not a bad thing if thats what you are going for. They sound really chorused too.......Chorused guitars and double vocals equal a chorus overkill in the mix.

The drums and bass could stand to be more prominent in the mix. They are too far back in the mix at the moment.

Nice song though.....nice little melody(but the do do do do do do does get a little annoying after awhile )

Good song but needs work.

Now post your stuff on nowhereradio so people will listen to it!15 megabytes free and only $2.50 a month for unlimited space.I think you get a month free if you pay for 12 months......anyway it's FREE for 15 megabytes. You'll get more traffic from here by signing up there.A lot of poeple have accounts at both places.

sounds pretty good. The vocal delivery is real honest. Don't ask me what I mean by that but it sounds very sincere to me. I like that.

I usually like vocals to be real upfront, but this might be just a tad too upfront even for me.

The hard panning on the intro guitar was too much for me as well.

the 'doo doo doo doo' stuff I think would be better served via an instrument than your voice. Your voice isn't a problem, it sounds good, it just sounds like something that would be better on horns or something other than voice.

Drums could be a tad louder but I think once you push the voice back a bit the rest of the levels might be right. Who knows? give it a try and repost.
