Unhappy how to install plug-is

I've just begun learning how to use Cool Edit Pro 1.2a.
I downloaded some plug-ins today and have some on a cd....truth is I don't know what I'm doing. How do I install them?
Is there a good book you can recommend for a newbie such as myself?
Thanx in advance.

Leeking will become famous soon enough
I think installing them is pretty easy, just follow the installation steps.

Truth is, I never know where my plug-ins actually are! I just know they show up in the editor software and that's cool!

some better coded plug-ins at least have a uninstall feature if you wanna rearrange things.

I too would love to know a better way of managing your plug-ins.

1. Install the plugin
2. Start up Cool Edit
3. In the edit view, do the following: effects - direct x - refresh this list.
