cakewalk midi?

I have Sonar and am just getting into it for midi and sequencing.......when I open Sonar, it says I haven't selected any Midi outputs, and then prompts me to choose an output.....my only choice is the Microsoft Midi Mapper, but it won't even let me choose that.........how do I get one selected.......do I need more software?

You probably need to have a MIDI interface driver installed.

CW will choose from a list of those installed once you have one or more working.

The MIDI Mapper won't work unless it has something to map to.

Nope... you don't, all you must have is the right driver for your gear. Just because you have this and that gear, doesn't mean it would work along with PC. Without proper & well rcognized driver, they don't make it. So put on the driver, it'll appear there if it installed properly... BTW, what's your MIDI device ? Sound card ?
