Question Cakewalk 9 metronome help please

What I find in the instructions seems to imply you have to choose a midi instrument to be the sound of your metronome.

Only I dont have any midi instruments. I just use guitars and mikes. I need to make a click track, but I can not seem to make it work. It seems like it is one but the is no sound.

Is there anyway to set this so it clicks if I do not have any midi instruments??

thanks

What sound card do you have? You should be able to use that if it has midi synthesis capability? Most onboard sound cards do.

If not, you could probably record one or two measures of a snare hit (or a wood block, or whatever) and then copy and paste it for however many measures that you need. Make sure you first trim the audio at exactly the measure points before copying, or your hits will end up off beat.

cake metronome

i had the same problem and shuffled around the selections in the 'options' 'midi devices' menu - the active devices must be 1'st in the list (on the right, output) if you have a device called 'mpu 401', select it as input (left) and then try each output(list on right) selection 1 by 1 till you hear the metronome. i assume you have 'use midi note' selected in project 'options' as well, and have the note selected to sound during recording and/or playback. hope this helps.
