Question SMPTE trigger with Yamaha RM1X ?

Hi all, long time no post. Hope this finds you all well.

I was hoping someone here could help me with triggering the 'record' function in CEP 1.2 with the 'play' button on the Yamaha RM1x sequencer\sampler. My brother has some tracks he wants me to mix and I need to have them in sync. I usually work with live instruments so I am a bit of a midiot.

I think what I really need is the code (MIDI ? MTC ? SMPTE ?) that the Yamaha sends or needs to receive regarding the play button on the unit...but I can't find it anywhere. It doesn't seem to be in the manual or on the website. The end result must be CEP recording when 'play' is pressed on the Yamaha, or the Yamaha playing when 'record' is pressed in Cool Edit.

I use a Delta 44, with no MIDI so I am hoping to either use the joystick port on my onboard soundcard, or borrow my brothers santa cruz to get the job done.

Any advice appreciated,

pAp
