Johnson Amps sounding the death-knell?

So Johnson Amplification is calling it quits. Supposedly they will continue to produce the J-Station, but ya gotta wonder - how much longer before they fold it up for good?

Long live tubes.

Musicians Friend is selling them for way cheap too, if anyone was looking to get in on them before they're gone.

answering my own question:

Johnson Amplification liability under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing defective materials that show evidence of defect, provided the product is returned to Johnson Amplification WITH RETURN AUTHORIZATION, where all parts and labor will be covered up to a period of one year. A Return Authorization number may be obtained from Johnson Amplification by telephone. The company shall not be liable for any consequential damage as a result of the product’s use in any circuit or assembly. We can be reached at 801-566-8800.

Wow, what a deal

That price through Musician's Friend is awesome for the JM 150 -an amp I chose over the Cybertwin for it's versatility and pure sound! If you're wondering, go for it!

My question is about reliability.

I've been under the impression that Johnson was bought out a long time ago.

Some guy is telling me that Johnson Amps are made in China, though the backpanel in the manual shows "MANUFACTURED IN THE U.S.A" quite clearly. This does not mean that the country of manufacture couldn't have changed, though, as is common.

Anyone know?

I know one thing...

Johnson Amps and Digitech products use the same address in the same town in Utah.

Lightbulb

A-haaaa.....

Now I get it. I was wondering how a company that survived by producing amps could remain in business on the sales of just a little $130 gadget like the j-station.

Obviously they are somehow tied to Digitech, whose entire business is making gadgets. I wonder if soon it will be the "D-Station".

As far as where the amps were made, chances are many of the components were manufactured overseas, but the final amp was assembled in the States, thus earning the "Made in U.S.A." label. Companies do that all the time.
