Intentional Distortion

Sorry if this has been asked...but I was wondering if anybody has ever been able to get any usable sounds out of the "DISTORTION" effect in CEP. I was thinking that maybe I could somehow use it to beef up a harmonica, but I've never been able to get it to do anything other than annoy the crap out of me and my nearest 20 neighbors.

While I'm at it...if you have any suggestions of other settings/FX that could help get a cool distorted harmonica sound...TEACH ME.

Thanks in advance,
-chris

The "distortion" in CEP is very "digital". Not the warm dirty distortion you'd want on your harmonica... I've only used it once on a vocal track to make it angrier..

For a good harmonica sound, I'd recommend running it through a guitar cab or maybe a POD...

Thanks...will crank amp. I have amps. Yeah...still don't know what the f*&$ a POD is, but I'm pretty sure I don't have one.

Oh yeah, I got amps.

You don't know what a POD is? Where have you been?

seriously, not being a guitarist, it could be you don't know what a POD is. a POD is a product from line 6 that emulates different guitar amps and gives you the opportunity to record them direct.

Go to www.line6.com for details. Although it is made for guitar, you could get good results with your harmonica. I even once recorded a great distorted vocal track with my POD.

"Sure" make this old looking roundish green mic. Kind of shaped like a side rear vision mirror. Its shaped that way so you can hold it behind the harp. An extreemly hot, fat and vintage sounding mic. Designed and used by top harp players. Or If you have already recorded the track and want to fatten it up, try re-amping it into a marshall or other valve amp.
