Kind of telling a story with music.

I liked the beginning. It had a very cool, ambiant feel to it. The second section didn't work as well for me. There seemed to be a few timing issues -- imho -- and the piano came in a little bit too strong at times, but it may have just been my machine. The dissonant chords in this section didn't work for me as well, but please take that with a grain of salt because overall I think this was very well constructed. I just didn't care for some of the chords in the middle section. I did like how it segued right into the next section and it had a nice ending.

I read the story behind the song and got the message you were going for. Cool concept. Nice playing of the piano throughout the song.

Overall this seemed like a very personal piece for you to put out there. You did a great job and the interpretation is certainly there once you read the story behind the song.

Good job!

thanks so much.
like i said, i wasnt going to share it, but i wondered how it would "hear" to another pair of ears. thanks for your input. although i probably wont change the song, its good to know that once the song was explained, that i was able to project imagery.
i just wonder if i hadnt wrote what i wrote about the song, would it still "bare its weight"? hmmmmm
thanks again for the reply.

hey space,

there's some decent melodys going on but some of the piano playing sounds strange to me.. Like your barely making it through some of the parts, and there's some things that sound like mistakes.. I think this is one of those songs that suffer from bad production.. I like certain parts of it a lot, but some of it just doesn't sound right to me.. (ie: the piano run at around 1:20ish) If you played it for the average ears I'm sure they would like it.. I have gotten so critical it makes me sick. The story helped a lot for me.. It made me like it more than I would have otherwise.. Overall it was cool, but some of the levels were inconsistent.. I thought I heard several drum mistakes also.. I hope I don't sound like I'm ripping you because I did like parts of it a lot..

BTW, Does soundclick let you put up files that are of higher quality than 128? I was thinking of starting a page there, but I like to use at least 160kbps or higher..

I hope you were at the Rush concert @ Jones Beach!

I have a thread going under 'samicide' please feel free to rip it to shreds..

i know.... i really didnt want to post the song. i know of the flaws in the tune. it was written and recorded a long time ago. hence the poor piano playing. i dont really care for certain parts of the song myself, but i wont say which parts they are. it must really be bad if only 2 people posted. LOL!!!!
im glad you posted though. its good to see people sticking with you. following my "home recording career".....
anyway, about soundclick. im not sure about the kbps. i never checked. i just know that alot of times, the site is down and i get pissed off. especially when i complete a song and send out the "check-it-out" letters. thats when the site usually ends up being down for like a day or 2, the bastards..... but its free.
and thats what you get for free.
i missed the concert at the beach because i was sick. who gets sick in the middle of summer????? i heard it was great though, from the friend who i gave my ticket to...... another bastard....
and dont worry, im not a shredder. im not offended by what you wrote at all. thats what buddies are for. and thats what this forum is all about.
C-YA!
