Question Need To Know If This Is Possible

I have an Alesis DM5 drum module that has the midi in/outs on it, wich i trigger an acoustic set with. The kick sounds in it are good as well as the snares. But all the toms are like big hair 80's style reverbed all to shit sounding, and i am looking for dryer more natural sounding toms. My Roland DR770 drum machine has them. Is there any way that i can use my DR770 sounds, but trigger them from my acoustic kit, through the DM5, via midi cables. I am not big into midi, i just need to know if i have to buy a whole new drum module or if it can be done, and will there be any latency issues.

Do you use sequencer (PC) to trig the whole device ? Sure it can be done, just plug your MIDI Out from PC to DM5's MIDI IN, Plug the DM5's MIDI Thru to DR770's MIDI in. Set DM5 to respond certain chanel for kick, and snare, and also set the DR770 to respond only to certain chanel assign to toms...

Question NEED TO KNOW THIS

Hey James thanks for responding. I do not at all use a computor for my music production. I use a Roland VS2480CD. I basically have all triggers on my acoustic drumset. I run the triggers into the DM5 while micing the cymbals. I only trigger the drums. Bass, Snare, Toms. I just run out from my DM5 module directly to my roland. I just need to know if i can trigger sounds using my setup the same way, just bypassing the DM5 and usinbg just the sounds from the DR770, in real time. I had thought that maybe it could be done by just hooking midi cables from my DM5 into the DR770, and then back. Any further advice would be appreciated.
