Need tiny, simple MIDI app

Hi all -

I have a Studiologic 1100 MIDI controller hooked up to my computer, which has an SB Live! card.

Often, I just want to play piano, so I fire up the "keyboard" application on Creative's AudioHQ panel, and it uses the SB Live's soundfonts to synthesize audio output from the MIDI input. I play notes, I hear notes. It's all good.

The problem is, that keyboard app has to be in front and have focus for it to work.

So, if I have my email program in front, I can't play piano. If my screensaver starts up, I can't play piano. And so on.

Is there any other *small* app [1] that does the same thing as the AudioHQ "Keyboard" app, but will still work in the background?

     thanks

[1] Yes, I can just leave n-track running all the time, but I'd rather not have a whole sequencer running in the background & hogging resources.
