cd burner won't burn my audio files

ok,here i go again. i got a new hard-drive and my adaptec ver 4 with my 12x burner is not burning my cd's.i have 13 songs on my album i sell at my shows. i generally copy the songs out of the C: folder where i have them when i open up Adaptec.

ok,i have wav files in my folder. usually it will read and burn right after but right now it only reads them and then i get a coaster.

it worked fine on my old hard-drive. any suggestions? here's my specs:

Windows 2000 Pro
AMD 1.2 ghz
Abit KT7A-Raid mobo
Chipset-Via Apollo KT133A
300 watt P/S
256megs SDRAM PC133
Maxtor 80 gig drive
Geforce4 4200 Ti 128 megDDR vid card
GlobalWinCAK38- HS/Fan
MS wireless/optical Intellimouse
Linkysys 10/100 PCI adapter
Telocity DSL gateway
Creative 56k Modem Blaster
Audiophile2496 Soundcard
Buslink CDRW 12x8x32
19”Orion moniter lizard

thx again

Cool

Couple of possibilities- (I've just been through this myself)

Bad media.

Other apps that you think aren't running but ARE and interfere with the burn process. I've burned dozens of CDs successfully while doing a lot of other stuff (since I went to a P4) but I learned the hard way that it isn't just the available power on the system but the behavior (or misbehavior) of those other apps that dictate whether you'll get a coaster or not.

Clean the optics. If the burner's been in active duty for a long time, it's probably time to clean out its eyes now. Use one of the commercial CD cleaners, or if you're adventurous like me, open up the drive and do it manually.

thanks yall, yup i can drag wav files onto the cd but they remain wav files. i also can drag mp3's over to. i can also copy my data files to it also.

but for some reason when i go to copy all 13 songs in a sequence to burn a cd,i get what i said above.hmmmmm, they are not changing into cda files. i kinda thought adaptec converted them as it burned.am i wrong?

Are you possibly selecting "Data CD" instead of "Audio CD"? Sometime's it's just the simple things. If you're selecting audio CD, your install may be corrupted, and you might have to uninstall/reinstall.

..just a possibility

Yeah Adaptec should convert them if you've selected 'Music CD' in the beginning. If you've done 'Data CD' then the .wav files will remain .wav files.
