Sound Quality: HDD Vs. ADAT->HDD

Is there any difference, quality wise, between recording to harddisk and recording to adat, then dumping to harddisk for editing on a computer.

I tracked to ADATs for years and then transfered those tracks into a PC via a MOTU 2408mkII. No real quality problems other than type II ADATs are only 20 bit rather than 24. That only became an issue with me when transfering back from the computer to the ADATs (24 bits truncating into 20 bit ADATs).
