Recording Drums

I'm going to record a Black Metal album soon (Bring on the jokes :b) and I want to rent some equipment just to record the drums, they don't have to sound amazing they just have to be heard and have the cymbals not lost in the mix, and not overpowering the rest of the drums.

I'm guessing i'll need some drum mics, and a mixer...anything else that would be useful?

So what are some good mics/mixers I could use for the drums...i'm on a pretty small budget so nothing too proffessional. Thanks.

Well.. a recorder?
Anyway, try the low-budget mics from Superlux. Just enough for the projects like the one you're working on.
good luck

2 overheads, 1 snare mic, 1 kick mic should do the trick (unless, of course, there are 2 kick drums)

for my own drums, I use a pair of Rode NT3s (or Behringer ECM8000s), an SM57 (on snare), and an AKG D112 (or Shure Beta52) on the kick and get great results

what are you recording with? how many tracks to you have open for drums? what kind of preamps do you have?

Cool

best advice you are gonna get and today it is FREE! FREE! FREE!

use the money to buy studio time and cut the drum tracks there....bring the guitar and bass player and maybe the vocalist to play along to help get the live feel......but you dont necessarily have to cut those tracks.....

If you ever become famous in a couple of years you will have to portrait this question. This is one of the most funniest guestions i've ever read.
