chessrock

if that bellari mod thing works out well, you and whomever you collaborated with ought to post a how-to guide somewhere on the net for those of us with demanding ears but min wage jobs. =P im sure a lot of people could use it.

how is this spam? i realized afterwards that perhaps private message would have been a better way to tell him this, but notice it says newbie under my name.

As such, I beg you humbly to please excuse my otherwise inexcusable offense, lord bdgr. I can only pray that your mercy, generosity and magnanimousity extends as far as your wit clearly does, oh great one.

p.s. besides.. this way others can echo my request and convince chessrock it's a good idea.

Shadow,

I believe my man above meant humor by his question of spam...he just forgot the smiley. A couple of dudes around here (including the chess) have become known as the spam police due to their over anxious tendencies towards certain members of the board.

I believe I was also called (indirectly?) a Davisound plant once

I think you'd have to ask Voxvendor that one. lol. Just kidding, Vox.

NWSoundman is performing the actual surgery. I'm just an organ donor. The Bellari was shipped to him late last week, but it went clear across the country, so I'm sure it will arrive at his doorstep sometime next week. As for the parts,

I got a hold of the burr-brown opamps for free, somehow. Called Texas instruments and told them I needed a couple of burr-browns for a preamp. She (customer service lady) asked me how many units I expected to produce in the next year. Like she thought I was mass-producing these things. I said: "Oh, several hundred thousand, easily." So she tells me that she'll send over two free samples for me to use.

The very next day I get an overnight package from Texas. This is too funny. It gave me an idea, though. I tried calling the guys at Jensen and told them I was working on the "next big sensation in tube pres", and I'm sure you get the rest.

Wouldn't bite on it. No luck at all. He did tell me I could "borrow" one, but then I'd have to send it back after testing and I'd have to leave my credit card number for deposit. Damn.

So anyway, I'm sending out all the parts next week. NW soundman should be done with it sometime by the middle of August I assume, and he will be testing it out (and hopefully posting) "before and after" accoustic guitar samples. Which should be easy enough, because actually, he's only mod'ing one channel and leaving the other as is.

Thanks for asking. Will keep you posted.

Chess,

I recieved the pre yesterday. 7-20-2002. I emailed you but maybe you didn't get it?

All,

As far as posting results,

I will create a disk with samples from pre and post modification of the channel modified. I will also include a channel to channel comparison pre modification too. This won't be very scientific as I don't want to get into debates on measurment technics etc. Chessrock can then post the results however he feels he wants to.

I should be done within a few weeks of recieving the new components.
