Monitor and Headphones w/ AARDVARK Q10

I havent gotten the q10 yet, but it is soon coming.
I thought I 'd ask some questions before..

Now I wanna record my band playing at the same time

3 mics on drums

AT 4033 single overhead
sm 57 snare
at pro 25 kick

--

sm 57 on guitar amp

--

bass directly into a high - Z

---

I noticed that there is only one jack for headphones.
If we are recording at the same time, how can we all use headphones? I dont want to use monitors because i dont want to to risk it bleeding into the mics. Can I plug the headphones into the monitor outputs? How about in any of the 8 outputs?

We're probably going to be in the same room as the drums ( my bedroom ) with my guitar amp enclosed in my closet.

help me out.

dave

Hey Dave,

I will take a shot at this, since I just bought a Q10. If I remember correctly I asked an engineer about this before purchasing, and he told me I would need to get a separate headphone amp with multiple inputs.

I was reading an article in Electronic Musician recently that talked about a product call the Oz Audio Q-Mix HM6. It runs about $300, but if you are using multiple musicians it might come in handy since you can set up different mixes in the headphones for each person. If you can afford it, this would be worth the price alone.

Hope this helps.
Rob

Robs right, you'll need a headphone amp with multiple outputs.
They're real useful for live stuff too 'coz you can use small headphone monitors in one ear for each person which means you don't have to worry about monitor feedback!
Everyone gets a seperate mix too, which means the guitarist can hear the guitar and vocals more than the bass player, etc.

yep need a headphone amp or get really creative and run it through monitor channels in your PA system if you have one.

I bought a used Samson Q5 at Music Go Round for $90

and your still going to need moniters you CANT mix with just headphones and if you wanted to try you would spend 200 alone ina set of flat cans so buckle down and start saving for some moniters
