what does mono mean for a volume pedal?

im thinkin of buying a volume pedal but it says its mono. how will this affect my sound and what advantages does stereo have over a mono volume pedal and vice versa.

Mono is one channel and stereo is two. Your guitar is mono as well as most dynamic processors like distortion and compression pedals. Wah's are mono also. Some time based effects like delay, reverb, chorus and flanger are stereo.
