Please help me choose the right cable model
I'm buying a used Amek/Tac Scorpion 16:8:2 next week. I need some help regarding cables. I'm using mostly keyboards and Synthesizers, no guitars nor microphones. First question I have is there a difference if I use the XLR input for my synths or the 1/4" - do they both go through the same preamp? Second someone please take a look at these three links and tell me which one will be best used with Amek console.
www.canare.com www.mogami.com www.gepco.com Please tell me the exact model of the cable when you respond. Also I want it to be a thick cable does gage number comes to a major decision here. I can't afford Monster cable. Also cables must be balanced - I'll be using Neutrik connectors. Another question I have is there a benefit between using quad cables or normal ones. I heard that quad is only used with microphones, how does it work with synthesizers. Cheers |

Unless your keyboards have balanced outputs (pretty rare) then just get some good quality 1/4" unbalanced cables preferably under 15'.

Hold on are you saying that all keyboards/synths have unbalanced outs? Even if they are will i have any benefit using balanced cables even though the synth has unbalnced outs. I know that Amek has balanced Ins/Outs.

I have Waldorf Microwave XT, Jomox Xbase 09 and Ensoniq Fizmo, i also intend to gto from my Motu 1224 unit to the mixer, and I know that 1224 has balanced outs as well. Hope this helps a bit.
