used Tascam TM-D1000? or new Soundcraft/Mackie?

Hi guys,

I am thinking a while about buying me a mixer, and I was tending to go for the Soundcraft M4. I'm going to use it with a Delta 44 or Delta 66, and it gave me enough inputs. For my needs it seemed to be the mixer to go with.

But now I saw an ad for a used Tascam TM-F1000, for about €500 (€uro equals dollar today I read), where the new M4 will cost me over here at least €670.

Is it wise to go for the Tascam? Or is an 'old' mixer gonna give me much disadvantages (less reliable, less interesting pres?)? Is there anything I should be aware of when buying a used mixer?

thx for advice guys, I'll really appreciate it,

greetings

Brett

camn is an unknown quantity at this point
If you're gonna get a digital mixer.. you should get a digital soundcard. Only convert one time, you know...

The tmd-1000 only has 8 pres and they are all 20-bit, though the internal path and output are 24-bit.. with a 48k max.

I dont know about the M4 being.. 679?? Euro-money confuses me... but isnt it, like 300??

and it has only 4 pres. They may give you a better sound with 24-bit converters on a delta card, tho@!!

euro has the same value as dollar at the moment.

The M4 really costs me 670 over here. Maybe in the US are the prices way cheaper on this one?

Btw, a £1=€1,5 so that 315 on that site still is €472. mm, not that much in the UK it seems

back to the issue at hand... what Soundcard do you think youd get with a tmd-1000..?? I dont think a Delta would be appropriate....

mmyeah, I did a bit of research and I'm kinda tending to the soundcraft solution... I only need an analog mixer, so 'don't run before you can walk', I mean financially
