This probably seems lame. I can't even get past the simplest part of using the software. Anyway, here's what has happened:

I recently aquired a couple copies of Seer's Reality (couple= a copy of 1.53 and a copy of 1.55). I installed 1.55 with no problems, however when I rebooted my computer I ran into one of those 'windows registry errors' and had to reboot. Upon rebooting I could no longer access Reality from Cakewalk (ver 9 ; "access" meaning there was no 'reality' in the list of midi ports). So I reinstalled. During installation i got an error -- something like "error occured while installing Reality drivers, contact your vendor for technical support". Upon trying to run reality, i got an error message that says Reality was not completely installed but rebooting the machine may fix the problem. Rebooting didn't help. So I uninstalled Reality and tried installing again. Same problem.

I tried uninstalling and installing version 1.53 and still had the same problem. I uninstalled *again* and even tried removing all the "Seer" keys in the registry. Upon reinstalling I still got the same problem.

Anyone have any ideas what's wrong?

I'm using a PII-333MHz, 64MB RAM, sblive value soundcard, win98SE.

Reality Bites.

Sorry, I couldn't resist--good luck, though. I've read good things about this software.

heh yeah thanks

I've heard good things too. Too bad I can't get the damn thing to work.

I hope I don't have to completely reinstall windows to fix whatever problem it could be.

This problem sounds specific to your PC. Something has either corrupted or is conflicting. If Seer can't help I would suggest doing a complete formatting of your C:\ and re-installing everything from scratch. From my experience, as soon as you start getting those errors they tend to linger. I just did this and I can now run a number of apps that simply wouldn't work before. Only took a few hours too.

Reality is pretty good except for the ease of mapping samples.
