which mic for trombone live?
alright I need a mic (hopefully cheap) to make our trombone louder during practice/live. It'll be plugged into a mackie PA and we've had some problems with feedback lately... what do you think??

I do a lot of work with live Trombones, particularly with Ska Punk.
Most people would suggest an SM57, but to be honest I've had better results for everything an SM57 is used for by using an E604 instead. Go for the E604 instead. |

The club I go to mikes the trombone with a Sennheiser MD421 . It's 18" or so in front of the bell and pointed straight it. Like the cord is in line with the horn. It sounds good to me. Not cheap, but good.
