Zen_Frequency is on a distinguished road
cool edit pro problems with recording.

ive got my mic plugged into the soundcard and its all activated ie: i can hear myself through the pc on the mic.

now, ive got cool edit pro and try as i might i cannot seem to record. when i have it opened into the 4 track session, the top track is my backing music, the one below i am trying to record the vocals onto. when i hit the little red 'r' button, and then hit record on the player at the bottom of the screen, it keeps track with the backing music, but, nothing is being recorded. is there an extra function i am missing out on?

just because you can hear yourself doesn't mean the mic is activated.

what you have to do is click on the little speaker icon -> options
-> properties ->recording ->ok -> select mic as the default recording device, it will probably be on line in

that's it
