MOTU firewire VS Delta PCI
I never really understood the point of firewire recording, as opposed to doing it pci with say, a delta card. i didn't understand that the MOTU took the place of the pci card, and didn't really understand why you would use one. But now i understand that the motu is like an external sound card, and you can record multiple tracks through it onto your computer, the same as a delta card. So what is the big differenece? The MOTU is external, and portable, so you could use it with a laptop, or take it to a friends. And the pci delta card is in your computer. Can you do everything with a MOTU that you can with a delta? I don't even know what the hell im asking seeming i just came across this today, but whats the big difference?

It all depends on the type of setup you want and how important sound quality is.
I haven't read any direct comparisons of the Delta and the MOTU FW stuff but it's a known fact that MOTU's PCI interfaces have better sounding converters than the FW stuff. Some have noted a significant improvement with external clocking however. |
