easier way to cut loops needed

Sonar 2: I've been trying to make some loops which will repeat for a number of measures, then change to another loop and back. It works great since I now only need the skill to get a 1 loop perfect and not practically a whole song as I did with my 4 track tape. My problem is the TIME that trying to splice just the correct area to get a seamless loop takes.
Im Talking a guitar part here not a drum part like all the examples are.
There must be an easier way!
WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING.. is set a loop to repeat a rough section of audio and then change the start and stop on the fly so it sounds smooth and seamless. This sounds much easier than it actually is! Then I can copy the exact times as a selection and paste them as a repeating loop. It takes me forever it seems.
Is there a better way? Part2: ALSO does anyone have any tips on using the Groove loop construction tool? Can it be used on a flowing guitar part? sometimes it works and sometimes (50%) I cant get the thing to find correct setting for the splices no matter how many different ways I set the beats per minute , note duration ie: 1/8, 1/16 etc. or trans detect. Am I missing something here, is this feature only good for percussion?
Getting some good tips here from all you gurus will be a great help. Thanks In advance.

If you have a loop, you can drag it to the left or right and it will repeat -- no need to cut and paste repetitively.

You have to edit it as a loop -- actually remove the data to the left and right of your loop points, or else dragging just reveals the slip-editied "hidden" data...

how about selecting a loop

1) Thanks Im already pretty familiar with slip editing, I just thought that if I knew how many loops I needed why not do it as repititions when you copy?
2) How about some tips for selecting loops. Am I doing it the easiest way?
3) Are groove clips aimed primarily at percussion?

Thanks for all your help: I know that this takes valuable time and it is appreciated: I could not find these answer in search,, there is not much on loops considering its a foundation of this programs power!

The best I can suggest for guitar is to use a 2 track editor (sound forge, cool edit, etc...) put a very short fade in at the beginning of your loops and cut them to size there.

looping is cheating, so it's never going to be perfect, reverb tails get cut off, any sound carrying through gets cut off. to get it perfect is more work than recording the whole part.

if you just want to arrange a song with loops, after arranging, you should go back and record the new arrangement as a whole part.

and yes (IMO) looping is best for percussion, except cymbols.
