(P.S.: you may notice that the left channel will sound louder a bit cause I had a problem with a setting when I uploaded it - the compression was only receiving through left channel but it was returning stereo data. The problem is now fixed... Will upload it soon...)

the beat is off the chain.
This version had no vocals. what gives? also, the drums did not sound huge and hard enough. Experiment with different samples.

Yeah it's this beat is okay but the bass definitely needs to be brought down an octave it's interfering with the organ. Or is the organ providing some of the bass. Either or the lower part needs to be at lower octave. I like the voices pretty good idea to bring them in and out.

when I say that the beat is off the chain it means that the beat is off the hook. THat is to say, the beat is PHAT.
I thought you had posted one with vocals but I did not hear vocals on it.

well... it's a fine beat...
i can see there are many great ideas in this beat. but, in addition to droppin the bass one octave, i would use another bass pattern... (the rythm is ok, but the notes interfere with the rest, which can become annoying)... if you want more explications ask me... maybe i can remix it with another bass line to show you the difference. keep up the work though... you got great ideas and with just a little work, this beat is gonna be crazy cya later |

I agree with the majority on the bass octave.
And you lead by example on the drum advice you gave me earlier. As for the track overall... the shit is ILL. Seems sinister and playfull at the same time. I can imagine Ghostface ripping that, or my LabRat/Kinfolks |

My opion
The beat is put together very well. sounds like you have been doing this for awhile. I am an MC, and we all have different taste in what type beat we can flow too. I did not like this beat for myself to flow on. I thought it was boring. I could see myself falling asleep trying to write to it. Of course that doesn't mean someone else like RZA or Inspector Deck wouldn't grab the beat and make it a hit. I am a producer also and I know when we make beats we want honest opions from everybody, and thats mine. Keep doing your thing I know you got the goods, I just wasn't feeling that one.

As for my $0.2
nice beat ...
it sounds to me like the bass start on the A note maybe it should start on the ebony immediately above the C ( what's that a D flat or C sharp tomatoe tomAtoe) unless this arrangement (bass)was made to add some colours to vocals nice drum track what do you use , i'm still using my keyboard's kit |

I would....
The harmony between the organ and the bassline clash....the organ is in the key of C minor, the bassline in the key of Gb/F# minor... the difference between those two keys is sometimes called a "tri-tone" (C to F#). Some jazz artists use it, D'angelo used it at the beginning of "Jones in my bones". To my ears the bassline conflicted with the organ a little too much. I personally would have moved the bassline just on the notes of C and G. Maybe variate it a lil bit on 4 and move to C# and G#.... but how it is, it sounds nice and dirty.....gritty and grimey, i just have sensative ears..
good work -e-

very well done and very crisp.
my complaints are: lack of low end on the bass the organ is a little to loud over the beat... don't forget this is hip-hop. beat first. i'm guilty of over-mixing the melody on several of my tracks. i would suggest that on the breaks where you cut the organ and let the beat ride that you allow a staccato bass thump with the kick... then take the bass away in one of the breaks to switch things up. i like the way you bring in the organ/boy's choir sound just before going to the hook... or at least where the hook will be! you should also contemplate having 1 or 2 things jump in an out of the mix during the verses... or at least where the verses will be since you aren't switching the beat up much. i really liked it when you dropped the hat and just went with the boom-bap of the kick and snare. it made for a nice dynamic when the hat came back in. |

Thanks for the comment crosstudio.
I'm now working on a 'remix' if I could call it like that... I'm trying to find a different bassline... Peace, Beathoven |
