Not-Quite Iso Booth Idea
I'm thinking about building some panels to isolate my mics from the noisy room. I'm thinking panels about 7'6" tall by 24 inches wide, and about 2 inches thick. On the side facing the room I would use a slat resonator and the panel would be filled with rockwool covered in muslin material. On the side facing the mic I would cover the panel with 1/4 inch fiberboard and face that with 2 or 3 inch Aurelex foam. I figure I could use hinges to support the panels, locking them together. Maybe if need be I could rig a top for it, too. I found a Luxo mount that would work great in a booth. You can get multiple bases too so you could mount high or low for guitars, etc.
Is the slot resonator idea viable? It occured to me that just making a panel with fiberboard one both sides and filling it with rockwool was kinda defeating the absorbtive qualities of the rockwool.
The next thing I gotta do is make some kind of box to put this damned CPU in because the sound of those platters is making me crazy!
