MrTangent is on a distinguished road
Yamaha VL1 / Yamaha EX5

I'm wanting to know, from someone who owns either synthesizer, if the newer Yamaha EX5 (and EX7) feature the exact same VL synthesis technology that was featured in the famed VL1/VL7 series.

I'm wanting a top of the line "physical modeling/acoustic modeling" synthesizer and the VL1/VL7 is on the top of my list. However, they're rare and only found used. If I could get an EX5 for new, and maybe even cheaper, I would like to go that route.

So my question is... what's the benefits and drawbacks from going the EX5 route and does it feature all the VL synthesis (physical/acoustic modeling) that the original VL1/VL7 does?

Thank you in advance.
