Is Cool Edit 96... cool?

I found that Cool 96 is "cool" for editing waveforms and adding effects. It is like a smaller Sound Forge. It has full effects and editing capabilities, and one track recording. Did you download the demo - www.syntrillium.com? Syntrillium has released a PRO version that is like a 64 track console and full rack. I am very happy with that.
