Just wanted to say, I finally scraped £4.5k together and bought a new Rönisch upright.

I know a lot of people don't like them, but it has the richest & roundest tone I've ever heard in an upright, and to touch, well, it feels as good as my wife on our wedding night.

I've never been so happy.

I never heard of a Ronisch. But I'll trust your judgement that it's an excellent one. Those Krauts turn out some mighty fine bones. Bluethner. Bosendorfer. The best in the world. I mean it's their duty to build beasts capable of delivering old Beethoven's 32 without a sweat.

Hey, whatever works. Frankly, my Kimball upright sounds fantastic, as good as the day it was purchased in 1977.
