Unhappy

I have a at3525 which i love for vox and a shure condenser as drum overheads. I run them through a digitech tube pre without compression and very little tube coloration. No eq is used and the gain makeup is mainly solid state(i keep the tube trim down). I still get a kind of washy sound with vague placement. I raise the crashes high to get out of the tom tracks and have the mics backed off of them so you don't notice the swaying they do when hit. I am not sure if it's my mic placement or processing. The ceiling is also just tile. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
