Resilient Channel gap / sound leakage
How do you stop the leaking of sound through adjacent rooms through the 1/4" gap of resilient channel when using recessed lighting in both rooms?
See attatched pic. Thanks in advance. |

Recessed anything is a no-no. If you have to recess, then build framing for the recess and Sheetrock/RC around it, so that rather than breach the ceiling, you are building a depression into the ceiling.
Does that description make sense? Any time you cut into your wall, you are defeating much of your effort to isolate.

DAMN! I wish I would have thought about this before. I already ran wire and got everything set in and working for the recessed lights (not to mention the cost). Is there ANY way around this, other than building the lowered framing that you mentioned? I want to save headroom as well.
Thanks. |
