im stuck!!!!

ive been working on a song in the key of "G".the chorus progression is g-d-c but for some reason i cant come up with a progression for the verse.and i don't have any lyrics to build on.i just cant seem to find a good tension builder to lead up to the chorus.any suggestions would be appreciated.

p.s.: this is my first song.

thanks,
wayne

Try Am - C - D for the verse. Then come out of the Verse D into the Chrous G.
