All day long, dog...

Yup. One and the same. Check out the YAMAHA MOTIF 8 thread in this same user group.

No the sounds are not the same, the motif has more sounds and the RS7000 has more of the sounds of the RM1X. The motif has better overall sounds but I think the Rs7000 has more drum kits and the sound patches are totally different than the motif.

Well, ok...

You're exactly right MM, but not quite, and besides, with a few tweaks and turns, the RS stomps the Motif 8. I've got both of them (the board as my main, and the RS for beats in the bathtub and it's sample capabilities - I even bought them at the same time vs the MPC4000, which was too expensive for what it does.) And yeah, the RS is really geared to battle with MPs & the old ASR-Xs. I'd take my chances with a triton LE for example vs. a triton, and I doubt if anybody could tell the difference give or take a few sounds (unless the MOSS board's in place).

But that's just me.

RM1X, huh? Maybe I need to bone up on some shit. If you're right, money, I stand corrected. Sorry, jumpingflash. Go hear 'em both and decide which serve you best. If you need a dedicated board and the biggest batch of sounds, then go Motif, I did (but I got the RS, too). But I could still get by w/out it - the Motif, I mean. MAybe that's because I do a lot of twistin'. Hmmm...

Contrary to popular belief, the RS-7000 and Motif do NOT have the same sounds. Listen to them both and you'll agree.

Now, I see...

I sat up for a few hours last night and just played with both units. W/fx on sounds, w/out FXs, and they really are different beasts of burden. I've been so enthralled with a couple other toys for the last few months, that I didn't really pay close attention (been learning other synthy things lately). Glad I posted, albeit incor-fucking-rectly - now I know. Again, I stand corrected. Silly since I've had the opportunity to really learn each box <sigh>.

Thanks folks, good luck JFlash...

Peace.
