Sound Blaster Sound Card = MPC
well...not exactly! But I was told by my friend that you can store samples in different banks and trigger them with an external controller (midi).
Has anyone tried this technique?

Are these soundfonts only available for Soundblaster....
Or do they have a similiar technology for any soundcard? Raticus |

SB Live and Audigy (and their older brother the AWE) are probably the most popular soundcards that use SoundFont technology. I believe it was developed in conjunction with Emu. But, AFAIK, it's a SoundBlaster / Creative / Emu thing.
I know there is a 'soft synth' called LiveSynth that will let you load up SoundFonts as a DXi plugin in Cakewalk's SONAR. Later, Bill |

You also may want to look at a program called 'FruityLoops'.
Really cool. www.fruityloops.com And, if you have the right rig, you can even trigger in 'real time' if you want to use it live. Later, Billabong |
