Question Opinions on a NT 1000

Hi Folks,
I recently demoed a Rode Nt 1000, and was very impressed. Anybody have one? I would appreciate any and all opinions.
I want to use it primarily for vocals and ac. guitars.
thanks a bunch in advance!! mike

great mic

I love this mic..I bought 2 at the same time I bought 2 Neumann TLM 103's..and they are very similar in sound, with the Rode having a little more top end and sibilance on vocals..The self noise on the mic is really low also which makes it great on quiet acoustic guitar stuff..I want to try using 2 in an XY setup for classical music sometime soon, just for kicks. If you buy one, make sure you get a shockmount, as it doesn't come with one..you can get a really good price on the shocks @ www.bpmmusic.com , that's where I got mine from..they were like $40, as compared to Musician's Friend for like $100!!! The shockmounts are very very solid and thick, and the mic doesn't really move around in it too much, so It might not be as effective as one with a looser suspension..I also broke one overtightening it, but Rode mailed me a new wing nut thingie NO problem.. The mic itself is BIG..and heavy..you could beat someone up with one..

FYI Homerecording.com does not endorse beating people up with condenser microphones.

I on the other hand, being unafilliated with homerecording.com, recommend using an sm58 it's been proven to withstand such applications.

...im reading alot of info here on the tube mics. I am a baratone vocalist that wants to be able to record vocals and acoustic guitar. I am using a digital recorder (788). Would the tube mic benefit me that much? ....or would something like the nt1000 be just as nice. Is there anyone out there who has both?? ...or similar. Im just looking for an answer to the tube question...... "To tube or not to tube"

Thanks a mil. in advance mike

ColdAsh is an unknown quantity at this point
I've got a NT1000 and im hapy with it. Although the only other similar type of mic ive used is a NT2 and i dont think they're in the same league. I would like to know what the difference in sound quality is between the NT100 and the NTK for aplications such as acoustic guitar and vocals as this will be my next mic in my list of purchases.

ntk/nt1000

The reviews I read preferred the NTK over the NT1000, but that was being super super picky..they said the NTK wasn't very ''tubey'' sounding, and both compared very very favorably against a Neumann U87..NOW..an NTK costs $600 and an NT1000 costs $300..if it was ME? I'd buy 2 NT1000's so I could record my guitar in stereo and then overdub the vocals, OR record my guitar AND voice at the same time..performance vs pristineness..but that's just me.

This is the MIX review of the NTK and NT1000

thats the Electronic Musician review of the NTK
