soundcard update?

i have a soundcard(creative vibra 128)and am having probs transferring music from my computer to my stereo tape deck(yamaha)via card to amp.Running rca cable out not from line out on card as was finding very low signal at amp and maximised all settings on pc but found it didnt help.I had some success via headphone jack on pc speakers to amp but not sure wether this is wise and am having problems still with sound volume and recording quality and recording levels.any advice?

Check cables and input gain.
Headphones out is no problem mostly.

Make sure your creative mixer/windows mixer has line outs engaged and volume sliders up.......... about 80-90% should be planty of signal for a tape deck.
